FAQ
House league players should be able to skate forward, turn, and stop (skating backward is a bonus!). They should also possess a basic level of stick handling, passing, and shooting skills.
If more than one of these areas is still a challenge, we recommend enrolling in an Advanced LTP or Learn To Skate program. These can be taken concurrently if desired.
Outfitting your child for hockey can be expensive, even when they're just starting out. While it's recommended that your child have their own set of gear, including skates, some equipment can be rented through the rink at a minimal cost.
It's been said that 90% of hockey is skating, so we'll always encourage you to get your child on the ice as much as possible. While certainly not mandatory, Learn To Skate or other development-centric programs are a great way to improve your child's skating ability, which will in turn make them a better hockey player.
